Blake Wiggs is an educator and a lifelong proponent for the arts.  Blake received both his M.A. in Teaching and B.A. in Anthropology from East Carolina University, and is currently serving Craven County Schools as a district mentor and school improvement coordinator. As a School Reform Initiative (SRI) National Facilitator and Teacher-consultant with the National Writing Project, he is committed to educational equity and excellence, by supporting transformational learning communities in schools.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), and recently co-authored the book, Rethinking Classroom Design: Create Student-Centered Learning Spaces for 6-12th Graders.

In 2012, Blake spearheaded The Cogs & Wheels Project as an ongoing initiative for confronting local and relevant 21st century challenges through the fine arts.  This project was organized into a series of interactive exhibits that raised awareness across various social themes.  He has been involved with the Craven Arts Council & Gallery since 2011, and held the office of Vice President prior to becoming President.  Blake is particularly interested in the intersection of art and social justice, and believes the fine arts should act as a vehicle to spark dialogue and change.
